Trevor Edward Hoffman

d. July 26, 2012

Trevor Edward Hoffman, age 62, moved on peacefully, on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his home with his family at his bedside following a lengthy illness. He was born September 2, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Edward Clair and Joan (Howard)Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman attended the University of Pittsburgh for Metallurgical Engineering; and provided for his family well by working for Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 33 years as a foreman. He worked on the maintenance crew and was always one to be called out in the worst of weather conditions. He had a strong work ethic. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A.; and a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Union. Mr. Hoffman enjoyed gardening and planting. He was a creative person and his pride and joy was a lightweight aluminum trailer he built out of old railroad crossings and signs. His hobbies included scrapping and recycling, bird watching, and reading, especially books on WW II history, maps, and atlases. He loved to be outside, was a conscientious hunter and a steward of nature. When he traveled he always enjoyed taking the scenic route "shortcuts" that got you there in double the time; and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Holding onto his memory are his wife, Carol DeRose (Sigworth) Hoffman, whom he married June 8, 1974, of Gustavus township,OH; his son, Travis Edward Hoffman of Bazetta township,OH; his two daughters, Jennifer DeRose (Jared) Millington of Salt Lake City, UT, and Amanda Dawn (Justin) Hite of Kinsman,OH; his brother, Keith (Michelle) Hoffman of Pulaski, PA; two sisters, Claire Hoffman of Coitsville,OH, and Beverly (Sam) Varano of New Bedford, PA; and his two Jack Russell Terriers whom he dearly loved, Omar and Maggie. He and his parents are now joined together. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of services. A private interment will take place in Gustavus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kinsman United Methodist Church, PO Box 218,Kinsman,OH 44428.
