A. Dwight Hadley, age 86, of Gustavus Township, OH, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at his home. He was born January 22, 1924, in Montrose, Iowa, a son of John H. and Bessie (Bassett) Hadley. A lifetime Gustavus resident, Mr. Hadley was employed by Republic Steel in Warren, OH, for thirty three years. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Gustavus and had the first automated milking system in Trumbull County. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 22nd Bomb Squadron where they flew the hump. He was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church, where he served in numerous positions. He served as a church delegate for the Northeast Ohio Annual Conference for over 40 years; and was a charter member of the Burdette Edgar Totten VFW Post #6263, Gustavus. Mr. Hadley served in the Boy Scouts as an assistant scout master and assistant unit commissioner for a total of ten years. His hobbies included fishing, reading, and traveling. Mr. Hadley is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Standley) Hadley, whom he married Sept. 21, 1944, of Gustavus Township,OH; his three sons, John M. (Phyllis) Hadley of Statesville, NC, James L. (Melody) Hadley of Cortland,OH, and Allen (Judy) Hadley of Bellefontaine, OH; his two daughters, Kathy (John) Schultheis of Layton,Utah, and Lora (Gerald) Hunkus of Mecca, OH; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one brother, Herbert (Cookie) Hadley of St. Petersburg, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie and Wayne Hadley; and one sister, Elva Hopkins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the Gustavus Federated Church, 8850 St. Rt. 193, Gustavus Township, OH, with Rev. Karl Bucey and Pastor Ray Hadley officiating. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services. A private burial of cremated remains will take place in Gustavus Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gustavus Federated Church, P.O. Box 5, Farmdale,OH 44417.
