Alan C. Martin

Andover, Ohio - Alan C. Martin, age 86, died on Monday, November 26, 2012 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, Pennsylvania. He was born on February 25, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Marjorie Madeline (Stephenson) and Richard Lewis Martin. He was a 1943 graduate of Williamsfield High School. A resident of the Andover area for the past twenty years, Mr. Martin was formerly of Espyville, Pennsylvania and Mansfield, Ohio. On November 19, 1945 he married Ruth Eileen Osborne. Mr. Martin worked for Ohio Edison before becoming employed with The United Telephone company, where he worked for many years. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Andover, Ohio. Mr. Martin was an avid reader and enjoyed landscaping and gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years. Ruth E. Martin of Andover, Ohio; two daughters, Holly A. Martin of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Penny L. Martin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; two sons, Terry A. (Vicki) Martin of Edinburg, Texas and Timothy R. (Brenda) Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Alan, Annette, Todd, Kerrie, Robert, Randi, Caleb and Cadi and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Vernon Palo officiating.
