Alberta M. Bates

Alberta M. Bates, age 86, of Andover, OH, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 in Sebring, FL. She was born October 16, 1922, in Waynesburg, PA, the daughter of Leslie L. Moore and Freeda G. (Steele) Forsythe. A long time resident of Andover, Mrs. Bates spent her winters in Sebring, Florida since 1985. She was a 1940 graduate of Sandy Lake High School. She was employed by Target Stamped Products in Kinsman for 27 years, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Bates was a member of the Andover Christian Church; and she enjoyed bowling and crossword puzzles. Her favorite thing to do was get together with her family. Mrs. Bates married Raymond D. "Bud" Bates on June 30, 1947; and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2001. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her daughter, Janice Greenlee; one sister, Betty Pepe; and one brother, Red Forsythe. She is survived by her three daughters, Connie L. (Tom) Martin of Williamsfield, OH, A. June (Gary) Lundgren of Ashtabula,OH, and Karen S. (Dan) Bartel of Greenville, PA; her son, Dennis R. (Darla) Bates of Williamsfield,OH; a granddaughter, Kandee R. Readshaw of Andover; sixteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Kirby of Colorado; and four brothers, Dick Moore of Conneaut Lake, PA, Bill Forsythe of Girard, OH, Frank Forsythe of Andover, and Sam Forsythe of Fort Myers, FL. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M.at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, OH. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 26th from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Christian Church, 4019 Santa Barbara Dr., Sebring, FL 33875-5689.
