Alice Elizabeth Gay Morse, age 90, of Louisville, KY, died after a sudden illness at Baptist Hospital East on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Born in Linesville, PA, on January 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Audley Vance Gay and Lottie Clairene (Martin) Gay. Betty was a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother. An avid reader and journaller, she was a member of the GE Elfin Society wives sewing and reading groups. Betty was a graduate of Kent State University and taught grammar school in Aurora, Ohio, before her marriage in June of 1941 to her husband of 48 years, Marvin Dudley Morse. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and planning family get-togethers. Both Betty and Marvin were members of Springdale Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings, Gordon Gay, Mary Gay, and John Gay. Betty is survived by her sons, Robert Marvin Morse of Louisville, KY, James Bruce (Pam) Morse of Fort Myers, FL, and Jonathan Gay (Leah) Morse of Louisville, KY, three grandchildren, Eric Morse of Fort Myers, FL, Elizabeth Morse and Cynthia Morse of Louisville, KY. A private burial of cremated remains will take place in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday, December 3, 2007 from 2 to 6 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St.,Kinsman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Betty's church.
