Alice A. Kalas, age 92, of Gustavus, Ohio, died Monday, September 17, 2018, at Windsor House at Champion. She was born July 29, 1926, in Kinsman, Ohio, a daughter of Ellen Fedelia (Fobes) and Lloyd Charles Barry. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Kalas was a 1944 graduate of Gustavus High School. She was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church and a member of the Nesface Group in Kinsman where she served as treasurer. She served for over ten years as secretary for her Alumni banquets and as secretary/treasurer of her bowling league. She enjoyed the holidays with her family, embroidery, canning, bowling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a avid Cleveland Cavs and Indians fan. Mrs. Kalas married Joseph Kalas on October 23, 1944, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2006. She is also preceded by her parents and her step mother, Hazel (Ipe) Barry; an infant daughter; infant sister, Marian Barry and three sisters, Doris Rohe, Frances Cutlip, and Lela Heikkila; and four brothers, Willis, Charles, George and Elwood Barry. She is survived by three daughters, Alice E. (Gary) Everitt of Bazetta, Ohio, Diana L. (Glen) Marvin of Kinsman, Ohio, and Shirley E. (Bill) Koppel of McDonald, Ohio; one son, Ronald (Patricia) Kalas of Columbus, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Lynn (Carl) Ray of Andover, Ohio, Joe Marvin of Kinsman, Ohio, David (Luba) Everitt of Fowler, Ohio, Sheri (Mark) Knepel of Broomfield, Colorado, Dawn Everitt-Yurich of West Palm Beach, Florida, Ryan Kalas of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Kara (Morgan) Sheesley of McDonald, Ohio, Aimee (Paul) Crabtree of Dublin, Ohio, Kevin Koppel of Austintown, Ohio, and Erin (Josh) Rogers of Kent, Ohio; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Benjamin Yard, David Everitt, Sophia Johnson, Jenna & Evan Ray, Mia, Maddy and Max Knepel, Nora & Owen Crabtree, Selah, Naomi, Eden and Olivia Sheesley, Xavier Koppel, Lily Rogers. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 21st from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
