Columbus, Ohio - Alma G. Brown, age 87, departed this life to join God on Monday, April 8, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born on August 26, 1925, in, Marianna, Arkansas, a daughter of Lucy (Allen) and Eddie Lott. After graduating from high school, Alma attended Henderson Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. She then moved to Youngstown, Ohio where she was a graduate of Youngstown College with a degree in Fine Arts. Alma was a housekeeper for the State of Ohio, Department of Natural Resources for over twenty years. On November 18, 1950, she married Belzoner Brown, Sr. They moved to Andover 1964, where she was a life resident until recently spending the last few years in Columbus, Ohio to be near family. She was formerly a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Kinsman, Ohio. She enjoyed quilting, fishing and antique shopping. She always had a way of seeing beauty in antique items. Alma was widely known for her cooking skills and hospitality, making sure that no visitor ever left her home hungry. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-one years, Belzoner Brown, Sr.; her step-son, Leroy South; two sisters, Georgia Maye Mitchell and Corrine Powe and four brothers, Eddie, Jessie, Reuben, J.C. Lott. Survivors include five daughters, Karen L. Brown of Ashtabula, Ohio, Alberta D. (Samuel) Rucker, Cheryl A. Nnadi, Sandra D. Brown-DeRamus and Patricia J. Brown all of Columbus, Ohio; three sons, Belzonia Brown, Jr. of Andover, Ohio, Charles R. Brown of Columbus, Ohio and Leon D. Brown of Scottsdale, Arizona; a sister, Lela Luse of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Angela, Samuel Jr., Reginald, Belzonia Jr., Aleta, Tanya (Rick), Tyrone, Travis, Nicole, Jennifer, Joshua, Keishya, Terry, Shereya; fourteen great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 12:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ, 6000 Webber Cole Road, Kinsman, Ohio, with Apostle Phillip Jackson officiating. Calling hours will be on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
