Alvin James Gilmore, age 67, of 223 North Stateline Road, West Salem, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at his residence. He was born on March 9, 1938 in Bedford, Ohio to Lowell L. and Florence M. (Gastemire) Gilmore. Formerly of Auburn, Ohio, Mr. Gilmore was a 1956 graduate of Kenston High School. Mr. Gilmore was a West Salem, Pennsylvania resident since 1959. Mr. Gilmore was a lifelong dairy farmer and started driving truck for Johnsrud Transport Co. in Des Moines, Iowa in 1994. He also drove for Kraft Foods and LCL Transport. Mr. Gilmore served in the United States Army, doing a tour of duty in Germany. He attended the Stateline United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening. Mr. Gilmore is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Susan J. Rice who died in March of 1993, his daughter Patricia S. Gilmore who died in May of 1998 and Step son Melvin Hunt Jr. who died in March of 1996. He is survived by his wife Wilma Jean Hunt of West Salem, Pennsylvania, a son Brian K. Gilmore of West Salem, Pennsylvania, a step daughter, Melanie J. (Ron) Evan of Johnston, Ohio, step son, Monty L. (Barbara) Hunt of Kinsman, Ohio, step daughter-in-law, Peggy L. Hunt of Kinsman, Ohio, two brothers, Arthur A. Gilmore, of South Carolina, John C. Gilmore, of West Salem, Pennsylvania, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2005 at 11:00 A. M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Pastor Oscar Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Ridge Cemetery, West Salem, Pennsylvania.
