Kinsman, Ohio, Andrew Suhar, age 82, died on Monday, January 3, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on March 16, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Eva (Car) and John Suhar. Andy was formerly of Campbell, Ohio where he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Mary and Andrew Spak until he moved to Vernon in 1934 to attend school. In May of 1946 Andy joined the United States Army Air Corp. He served in the South Pacific just after World War II. On September 5, 1959, Andy married Mary E. Zreliak. Together they owned and operated Suhar Farms where they raised grain and sold grain handling equipment and seeds. Andy also worked at Sawhill Tubular Products and retired after thirty-two years of service in 1982. He then worked for the Department of Agriculture as a field reporter for several years. Andy served as Vernon Township Trustee for many years and was the Chairman during his last year as trustee. Later he worked for VEC Technology in Reynolds, Pennsylvania as a driver. Andy was a founding member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kinsman, Ohio, where he was one of the first to donate towards the land and building fund. He served as an usher for St. Patrick for many years. Andy also enjoyed attending St. Michael Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in the former Kinsman Council and later in the Greenville Council. He was also a member of the former Vernon Grange, Harry Lees American Legion Post 506 of Kinsman, Ohio and of the Trumbull County Farm Bureau, and served on the Farm Bureau Policy Committee. Andy enjoyed farming and attending farm shows. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Paul Lucik; two brothers, Major, Walter Suhar who was killed in Vietnam, and Michael Suchar; and two half-brothers, Steve and James Lucik. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Mary E. Suhar of Kinsman; a daughter, Mary Theresa Suhar and husband Matthew Szymanski of Clarksville, Maryland; two sons, Atty. Andrew W. and wife Kandis Wilde Suhar and John J. Suhar both of Kinsman, Ohio; a brother John Suhar of Kinsman, Ohio; four granddaughters, Alexandra, Andrea, Alaina and Anja and a grandson, Zachariah. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 6, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Church 6397 State Route 87, Kinsman, Ohio, with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery, West Salem Township, Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 5th from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio.
