Wayne, Ohio - Anthony J. Kozak age 88, died at his home on February 25, 2009. He was born on June 11, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Tomas and Tekla (Romanovich Czykowski) Kozak. Mr. Kozak was a 1939 graduate of John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio and a 1948 graduate of Ohio University. He served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the 157th Field Artillery of the 44th Division. Mr. Kozak was a commercial artist for Robert Silverman Inc. of Cleveland for many years and retired in 1986. A resident of Chesterland, Ohio for fifty years, Mr. Kozak was a resident of Wayne since 2002. He was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church of Chardon, Ohio, Tri County Coin Club, Wayne and Jefferson Historical Societies and the V.F.W. of Chesterland. Mr. Kozak was a collector of many things including antique eyeglasses. He was an avid reader, loved a good joke and had a gift for story telling and "tinkering". On November 25, 1950 he married Josephine R. Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Kozak; three brothers, Michael, Simon and Gregory Kozak. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Josephine R. Kozak; four daughters, Julianne (James) Spreng of Mohicanville, Ohio, Stephanie K. (Peter) Brown of Jamul, California, Paulla (Bruce) Williamson of Eastlake, Ohio, and Allison X. (Howard Yellen) Kozak of San Francisco, California; one grandson, Byron Anthony James Spreng of Mohicanville, Ohio. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:00pm at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon, Ohio, 44024 with Rev. Christopher McCann officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
