Cherry Valley, Ohio - Arlie L. Mills, age 81, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2009, with his family by his side. He was born on October 3, 1927, in Cherry Valley, Ohio, a son of the late Leonard W. and Nettie A. (Yeomans) Mills. Mr. Mills was a 1945 graduate of New Lyme Deming High School. A lifelong resident of Cherry Valley, Mr. Mills was the owner and operator of Dorie Lee Farms. A grain and dairy farmer, Mr. Mills also built and repaired grain bins up through spring of 2008. He was a member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church where he was a member of their C.D.R.M. He belonged to the Ashtabula County Farm Buearu. Mr. Mills wrote poetry and enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. On June 18, 1949 he married Doris J. Copeland. He is preceded in death by a son, Ted Elvin Mills; a son-in-law, Lynn Wessell; an infant sister; and three sisters, Winifred Mead, Doris Hoover and Grace Mills. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Doris J. Mills of Cherry Valley; two sons, Terry L (Sharon) Mills of Missouri, and Ralph A. (Toni) Mills of Jefferson, Ohio; two daughters, Christine A. (Dan) Wilson of Canton, Ohio and JoEllen Wessell of Rome, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Veronica, Lisa, John, Tami, Beth, Dylan, Joshua, William, Charles and Amanda; and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Pastor John Germain and Rev.Gary Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 18th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
