Barbara Maxine McGirr

Barbara Maxine McGirr, age 85, of Andover,OH, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at the Andover Skilled Nursing Center. She was born September 25,1933, in Cherry Valley, OH, a daughter of Arlie J. Flack, Sr. and Agnes (Mann) Flack. A lifetime area resident, Maxine attended Andover High School. She was employed as a cook at The Lil Bit restaurant in Espyville, PA, and for Pymatuning Valley Schools; and she worked for Golden Dawn in Andover. Maxine was a member of the West Williamsfield Congregational Church; and the Eastern Star Rebekah Lodge for many years. As she and her husband were raising their children, Maxine was active helping with school and sporting events and faithfully attended her childrens' events. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. Maxine married Charles David McGirr, Sr. on November 21, 1953, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2003. She is also preceded by her parents; her grandson, Cody McGirr; two sisters, Ila Mae Holstein and Betty Flack; and one brother, Loyal Flack. She is survived by son, Charles D. McGirr,Jr. of Jefferson,OH, son, Brian L. (Deanna) McGirr of Andover, OH, daughter, April D. Dietrich of Conneaut, OH, daughter, Shauna M. Peairs of Painesville, OH, daughter, Melissa K. Peterson of Kirtland, OH; 15 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; and two brothers, Floyd Flack of Conneaut, OH, and Arlie Flack, Jr. of Pearisburg, VA. A private graveside service will be held for the family and interment of cremated remains will take place in Padanaram Cemetery in Richmond township.
