Bernard A. Swope,Jr., age 84, of Hartsgrove township,OH, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital. He was born March 28,1921, in Cleveland,Ohio, to Bernard A. Swope, Sr. and Grace H. (Lynch). Formerly of Cleveland, Mr. Swope was a long time Hartsgrove resident. He was a World War II Army veteran having served in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Brush-Wellman in Cleveland, Ohio, for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Thompson, Ohio, where he served in the usher group for the past 11 years. He was also a member and former post commander of the V.F.W. #9519; a member of the V.F.W. Ashtabula County Council; and the M.O.C. PT 68. Mr. Swope enjoyed the outdoors, doing yard work, and gardening. Mr. Swope married Lillian A. (Wagoner) on October 4, 1941, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 2001. Also preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers, Clarence "Mike" Swope and Llewellyn P. Swope; and one grandson, Scot Berghauser. He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia G. (Tom) Linn of Hartsgrove township,OH, Susan J. Swope of Cleveland,OH, and Sandra L. Potenza of Mentor,OH; one sister, Alice E. Glass of Scottsville, VA; 3 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Thompson, OH, with Pastor Ross Fees officiating.
