Berneta Mae Phillips

Andover, Ohio – Berneta Mae Phillips, age 89, died on Thursday, January 8, 2015. She was born on, June 16, 1925, in Stow, Ohio, a daughter of Margetta Vera (Doyle) Morris Leeland Hearrell. Mrs. Phillips was a 1942 graduate of Charleston High School. She was formerly a resident of Fowler, Ohio for over forty years having spent the past few years in Andover, Ohio. On March 24, 1946 she married Arthur Phillips. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed bowling and was on a league for many years. She was formerly a member of the Cortland Trinity Baptist Church and recently attended the Andover Christian Church. Mrs. Phillips was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star in Kinsman and was a Dean Martin Fan. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-seven years, Arthur Phillips; a son, David A. Phillips; three sisters, Margetta Turner, Katherine Warner and Marcella Stacey and four brothers, Morris Hearrell, Daniel Hearrell, Robert Hearrell and James Hearrell. Survivors include four daughters, Nancy M. Haun of Vernon, Ohio, Linda L. (Henry) Matti of Andover, Ohio, Jean A. Stein of Forest City, North Carolina and Cynthia K. Sutton of Transfer, Pennsylvania; two sons, Robert L. (Ruth Ann) Phillips of Kinsman, Ohio and Wallace J. (Barb) Phillips of Vernon, Ohio; a sister, Martha James of Deland, Florida; two brothers, Earl (Katherine) Hearrell of Ravenna, Ohio and Raphael (Wilma) Hearrell of Alliance, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; thirteen step grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with pastors, Daniel Barker and Robert Gears officiating. Burial will follow in Dugan Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 11th from 3:00pm until 5:00pm.
