Bernice Watson

Williamsfield, Ohio - Bernice Johnson Watson, age 97, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018. She was born on March 1, 1921 in Fisher Louisiana, a daughter of Jurl (Sweet) and Jim Thomas Johnson, Sr. On July 8, 1948 she married Frank B. Watson in Cleveland and in 1952 they purchased a farm and moved to Williamsfield. Bernice was a night shift nurse at the Sunny Acres Sanatorium in Warrensville Heights. She also worked at Andover Industries for many years and retired in 1979. Bernice attended the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. She loved her children and having family dinners, playing cards and dominoes and was named domino Queen as no one in her family could beat her. Bernice enjoyed traveling across the country to visit her family, stayed active and enjoyed life. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost sixty years, Frank B. Watson; two sons, Wyett F. Watson and Donald Watson, Sr.; two brothers, Jim T. Johnson, Jr. and Roy H. Johnson and a grandson, Johnnie F. Matthews. Survivors include three daughters, Althea W. Ternent and Jasmine (James) Austin both of Williamsfield, Ohio and Gigi Oatman of Youngstown, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Dorlass E. Watson of Farmdale, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
