Beryl "Sandy" Davidson Heath, age 87, died Friday, January 14, 2005, at Andover Village Retirement Community. She was born November 5, 1917, in Wallesey, Wales to Master Mariner William Sandeman and Jean Urry Sandeman. She attended Howell's School for Girls in England. Mrs. Heath enlisted in the English Royal Air Force on September 14, 1939, and was discharged May 7, 1945, having served on many bases in England. She came to the United States in 1946, after she married Staff Sergeant Raymond Edward Heath in Oxford, England, on February 5, 1945. She became an American Citizen in May of 1955. Mrs. Heath was a long time Andover resident. She was employed by the Ashtabula County Treasurer's office; and as an insurance agent for the former Hall Insurance Agency and Martin Insurance Agency in Andover. Mrs. Heath was involved as a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout leader when her children were young. She was a member of the American Red Cross, where she taught swimming and first aid for 25 years. She was a dispatcher for the Andover Police Department for 20 years; and served on the Auxiliary as Corporal with the Police Department in Andover. She was a member of the Andover Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary; and was a charter member of the Ashtabula County Fireman's Auxiliary after the Isaly explosion in Andover in 1955. She served on Andover Village Council for many years; was awarded Andover Citizen of the Year in 1958; and received the Brenda Merrill award in 1998 in recognition of her outstanding community service. Mrs. Heath attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Andover, and formerly the Episcopal Church of England. Her hobbies included watching nature, going for rides, knitting, crocheting, reading, and she enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel and the news. Preceding her in death are her parents, when she was in her early teens; her husband, November 19, 1999; her granddaughter, Angela M. Bar on December 30, 2004; and her sister, Hilary Sandeman Spradbury. She is survived by her son, Martin (Joyce) Heath of Andover; her two daughters, Hilary Heath Godfrey of Andover; and June Heath (Luke) Gore of New Lyme, OH; and her three grandchildren, Rebecca Godfrey of Haymarket, VA; Brian Godfrey of Fort Hood, TX; and Julie Gore of New Lyme, OH; a step granddaughter, Rachel Vocaire of Garfield Hts., OH; a great grandson to come in May; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2005, at 11:00a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 170 E. Main St., Andover, with Rev. Scott Ressman officiating. A private graveside service will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to: Andover Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
