Betty Jones, 97, of Kinsman, OH, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Lake Vista Assisted Living in Cortland, Ohio. She was born October 11, 1920 in West Middlesex, PA, daughter of Isabel (Buckwalter) and Irwin Sampson. Betty graduated from New Wilmington High School in 1937. She married the late Morgan Jones on June 13, 1940, and settled in Kinsman where she has lived ever since. Betty was a stay-at-home mom until her children started college, when she went to work outside the home at Kinsman Pharmacy and continued to work there for 26 years. Even though Betty did not attend college, all eleven of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren graduated from college. Betty had been a lifelong member of Kinsman Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. She played guitar along with her late husband, Morgan, and they sang and played many times at church, nursing and group homes. A big sports fan, Betty enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, and NASCAR. She also liked to watch country music shows on TV. She enjoyed going out for coffee with friends, reading, mowing lawn, her cats, and working at the Bloodmobile. Betty is survived by her children, Mona Draa of Vernon, Jill Lock of Tallmadge, and Denton Jones of Grand Blanc, Michigan, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Leona McConnell of Pittsburgh, PA, Marge Szabo of Chicago, IL, and Jane Randazzo, of Orlando, FL. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three siblings, Sara Carlson, Irwin (Bud) Sampson, and Logan Sampson. Calling hours will be on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 17, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., Kinsman, OH, with Rev. Susan Francis officiating.
