Billy G. Ammons

Billy G. Ammons, age 78, of Andover, Ohio, died Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Andover Village Retirement Community. He was born February 10, 1929, in Gates, Tennessee, to Clyde and Gladys (Williams) Ammons. A long time Andover resident, Mr. Ammons was formerly of Williamstown,New Jersey. Mr. Ammons served in the U.S. Navy for two years and the U.S. Air Force for five years and was a veteran of the Korean War having been stationed in Okinawa. He was employed as an industrial x-ray technician for Salem Nuclear Power Plant, the New York shipyard, Boeing, and the Ralph M. Parsons Co. in California where he retired. Mr. Ammons was a Mason and a member of the VFW; a Boy Scouts Explorer Advisor and Cub Scouts leader; was very active with Little League for many years; and was involved with Amway. His hobbies included camping, traveling, and coin collecting. Mr. Ammons is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Schubert) Ammons, whom he married November 1, 1951, of Andover, OH; his son, Robert Ammons of Andover, son, William Ammons of Greenville, PA, daughter, Cynthia Jordan of Andover, daughter, Carol Guseman of Espyville, PA, son, John Ammons of Cortland, OH; nine grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Benjamin Ammons. Mr. Ammons will be cremated and a private memorial service wil be held for family and friends at a later date.
