Kinsman, Ohio – Carl E. Carmichael, age 77, died at his home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. He was born on October 11, 1936 in Orangeville, Ohio, a son of Mary Catherine (Schweiss) and John Stanley Carmichael. Carl was a 1954 graduate of Kinsman High School and served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957. He was an electrician for American Welding of Warren and for Caparo of Sharon, Pennsylvania. On February 20, 1987 he married Donna Kay Tamp. Carl was a Trustee for Kinsman Township for over twenty years. He was a member of the Bronzwood Golf Club, where he enjoyed golfing. Carl served the Kinsman Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an avid sports fanatic. He enjoyed coaching Little League and basketball when his children were young. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elsie Carmichael and a brother, Frank L. Carmichael. Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Donna K. Carmichael of Kinsman, Ohio; two daughters, Carla E. (Hank) Smith of Hartford and Bette J. (Dominic) Gualtieri of Hiram, Ohio; a son, Dennis A. (Allison) Carmichael of Wheeling, West Virginia; six sisters, Nancy (Lawrence) Genera of Canton, Ohio, Mabel Zak of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Elizabeth (James) McKitrick of Vienna, Ohio, Martha Elser of Kinsman, Ohio, Marguerite Carmichael of Tyler, Texas and Gerry (Kenny) Stafford of Kinsman, Ohio; two brothers, George (Donna) Carmichael of Yakima, Washington and Charles Carmichael of Pickerington, Ohio; six grandchildren, Mariah, Ryan, Kelli, Christopher, Sarah and Matthew and a great granddaughter, Ella. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675.
