Vernon, Ohio - Carolyn Lillian DePofi, age 89, passed peacefully into Eternal Rest at O'Brian Memorial Nursing home on Monday, January 7, 2013, after an extended illness. She was born on July 9, 1923, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Elizabeth Mary (Mullard) and Hubert Henry Higgins. A 1941 graduate of Farrell High School. Formerly of Sharon and Sharpsville, Penn. she moved to Orangeville in 1945 and then to Vernon in 1964. On July 4, 1941 she married Dominic P. DePofi. In 1964 she began working at the former Andover Industries until she retired in 1984. Mrs. DePofi was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church and was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, traveling, flower gardening, making crafts and playing the organ & piano. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years; a son, Raymond DePofi; a daughter, Debora Swope; two sisters, Maida Higgins and Marjorie Fell and a brother William A. Higgins. Survivors include three sons, Donald P. (Linda) DePofi of Hartford, Ohio, Dominic Phil (Mary Ann) DePofi, Jr. of Greenville, Penn. and Christopher D. DePofi of Campbell, Ohio; three grandchildren, Raymond Louie DePofi, Nicholas DePofi and Michelle Kasper; a great granddaughter, Mika. DePofi and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00am at the Orangeville United Methodist Church, State Line Road, Orangeville, Ohio, with Pastor John Benigas officiating. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery in Vernon, Ohio. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 11th from 10:00am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church at PO Box 67, Orangeville, OH 44453. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Lake Vista of Cortland and at O'Brian Memorial Nursing Home for their love and assistance and to all who remembered her in their prayers.
