Catherine A. "Kate" Lipps

Catherine A. "Kate" Lipps, age 81, of Williamsfield, OH, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. She was born May 1,1932, in Lewisburg, WV, a daughter of David H. and Lorene (Hedrick) Sampson. She was a graduate of Lewisburg High School and moved to Williamsfield,Ohio, in 1965 after she married her husband, George A. Lipps, on April 3, 1965 in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Mrs. Lipps babysat for many years out of her home; and she enjoyed bowling with her husband in earlier years. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She is survived by her husband, George A. Lipps, of Williamsfield; her son, Rodger Lipps of Williamsfield; her daughter, Barb (Jim) Wood of Williamsfield; three grandchildren, Victoria Wood, Jason Hancock, and Jimmy Wood; six great grandchildren, Jake, Cori, Brooke, Breann, Chris, and Cody; and one great-great grandchild, Mia; two sisters, Betty Sampson of Fairlea, WV, and Hazel Herdsman of Buffalo, WV; and a brother-in-law, Bill McCutcheon of Southgate, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, May McCutcheon, Frances Sampson, and Charlotte Persinger; and two brothers, Wilbur and Warren Sampson. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH, with Pastor Lyle Lipps officiating. Burial will follow in West Williamsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of service.
