Charlene M. Freeman

Charlene M. Freeman, age 74, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the St. Joseph Emergency Center in Andover,OH. Charlene was born October 4, 1940, in Nashua, New Hampshire, the first of six children of Osgood and Charlotte (Gray) Freeman. At age fifteen her family moved from New England to Richmond Center, Ohio where she continued to reside for the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Andover High School in 1958. She was employed as a bookkeeper for a local farm equipment business for a few years before she entered employment in the grocery business where for many years she served as head cashier and bakery supervisor for several area grocery stores. Her extended family was the centerpiece of her life. In her formative years she took great pleasure in taking her younger siblings and later her many nieces and nephews on extended trips throughout the greater eastern area of the United States. She loved baking for the many family functions. Her culinary expertise was legendary within family circles particularly when it came to her much sought after homemade pizza, pasta salads and especially her desserts. She was also an avid animal lover, rescuing and caring for those dogs and cats that others discarded. Her legacy to all that knew her will be her kind, caring, loving nature and her always putting the needs and concerns of others before those of her own. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joyce Schaefer; and her brother, Keith Freeman. Surviving Charlene are her brother, Dexter Freeman of Maple Heights, OH, brother, Paul Freeman of Andover, OH; and her sister, Dawn Freeman of Sacramento, CA. A private memorial service will be scheduled for a later date for the convenience of the extended family.
