Charles A. Lewis, of Andover, Ohio, died May 29, 2005, in Ashtabula, Ohio. A longtime resident of Andover, Mr. Lewis was born on July 9, 1934, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, to Allen J. and Velma (Cole) Lewis. Mr. Lewis served in the United States Army during peace time. He was an iron worker for the Local Iron Workers union #17 for over 38 years, working for the James Hill Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, where he retired in 1993. On January 4, 1957 he married Dorothy L. Hodson. Along with being a member of the Iron Workers Union he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4035 of Andover, Ohio. Mr. Lewis enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren, often being "Pappa's Taxi". He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Cassie Zell; 7 brothers, Jasper, Buzzie, Melvin, Fraley, Manuel, Jimmy and Kenny Lewis. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife Dorothy of Andover; 2 daughters, Tami L. (Tony) Mongenel of Ashtabula, Traci L. (Victor) House of Andover, 4 sons, Lenny J. Lewis of East Liverpool, Charles W. (Toni) Lewis of Andover, Robert P. (Julie) Lewis of Andover, Russell A. Lewis of Andover, a brother David (Earlene) Lewis of Andover, 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and special friends Jill Lewis, Robin Cain and Loretta Pier. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Robert Gears officiating. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and on Wed. from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
