Charles E. Davis, Jr., age 76, of Johnston Township, OH, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at his home. He was born July 16, 1934, in Buckhannon, WV, a son of Charles E. Davis, Sr. and Letha G. (Leigh) Davis. A long time Johnston resident, Mr. Davis was employed for more than thirty years by P.I.& I. Motor Express in Masury, OH, as a truck driver, retiring in 2003. He earned awards for 3 million miles of safe driving and the 'Truck driver of the month' award two times for the state of Ohio. He was a long time member of the Johnston Federated United Methodist Church; and he participated for many years in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Mr. Davis enjoyed woodworking, tinkering on his farm, spending time with his dog, Belle, and remodeling his home with his family. He also enjoyed traveling, having made Western trips on steam trains. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Cutright) Davis, whom he married April 10, 1955, of Johnston, OH; his four daughters, Deborah L. Lindsey of Cortland, OH, Vicki L. (Robert) Brown of Falls, PA, Sherry R. (Phil) Lance of Champion, OH, and Amy K. Davis of Columbus,OH; his four grandchildren, Derek and Erica Strock, and Erin and Adam Lindsey; his two sisters, Helen Miller of Middletown,OH, and Dorothy Slusher of Bristolville,OH; and three brothers, Neil Davis of Champion, OH, William Davis of Buckhannon, WV, and Germain Davis of Jacksonville, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lisa J. Davis in 1971; and his brother, Homer G. Davis. Calling hours will be on Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. A memorial service will be on Sunday, October 31st at 2:00 P.M. at the Johnston Federated United Methodist Church, 6262 Youngstown Kingsville Rd., Farmdale, OH 44417 . Burial of cremated remains will follow in Johnston Cemetery.
