Charles E. Kohta

Charles E. Kohta, age 81, of Williamsfield, OH, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home. He was born April 3, 1933, in Painesville, Ohio, a son of Toivo J. and Hilda S. (Joupilla) Kohta. A long time Williamsfield resident, Mr. Kohta was a 1951 graduate of Williamsfield School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955 during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Kohta retired from Target Stamped Products in Kinsman,Ohio, after over 40 years of service. Following his retirement he went on to mow for Ashtabula County in the summers. He was an active life member of the Harry Lees Post #506 American Legion in Kinsman; served as Trumbull County Commander and also District Commander; and was a life member of the N.R.A. Mr. Kohta loved his grandchildren; and he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and woodworking. Mr. Kohta is survived by his wife, Carmela A. (Pandolfi) Kohta, whom he married October 29, 1955, of Williamsfield; his son, David A. (Debbie) Kohta of Williamsfield; his daughter, Anna M. Bechtel of Andover; his three grandchildren, Danielle Olson, Ashley Fuller, and Derick Fetters; four sisters, Ellen Gregg of Jefferson, OH, Betty Worley of Greensboro, NC, Ruth Jones of Sunnyvale, CA, and Ida Sprague of Andover; and his brother, Paul Kohta of Jefferson, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two infant children, Joseph Kohta and Angela Kohta. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 12:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH, with Pastor Pat Seger officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
