Charles A. Zaebst

Cherry Valley, Ohio – Charles “Chuck” Arthur Zaebst, age 76, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 18, 2015. He was born on April 24, 1938 in Ashtabula, Ohio, a son of Mary (Lipps) and Arthur Zaebst. Chuck who has lived on Creek Road since he was fifteen, graduated from Deming High School in 1957. In 1961 he married Carol Rose Allen. He owned & operated various gas stations in the area for thirteen years. Chuck owned Zaebst Quality Tire in Cherry Valley for ten years. He raised chinchillas for a number of years and was a Cherry Valley road man for ten years, and also drove truck for eight years. Chuck enjoyed refurbishing antique cars and tractors and loved attending car shows, and flea markets specific to cars. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends and was known for his generous and helpful ways. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Carol R. Zaebst of Cherry Valley; a daughter, Regina M. (Michael) Krejsa of New Hope, Pennsylvania; two sons, Charles M. (Diana) Zaebst of Jefferson, Ohio and James A. (Linda) Zaebst of Duncansville, Pennsylvania; a brother, Wayne L. (Carol) Zaebst of Metamora, Michigan; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 481 Main Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Thomas Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
