Cloie Lorene York

Andover, Ohio - Cloie Lorene York, age 69, of Andover, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 14, 2008. She was born on December 9, 1938, in Little Creek, Virginia, the daughter of George Lawrence and Rosie Goldie (Huffman) Cole. Moving to this area as a little girl, Mrs. York attended Dorset schools. On November 17, 1956 she married Carey Raymond York, Sr. Along with raising her family, Mrs. York was a zoning inspector of Andover Village for over ten years, retiring in the spring of 2004. She was a member of the First Church of God in Cherry Valley. Mrs. York was a consultant for Mary Kay, and a girl scout leader for many years. She was a member of the Andover Christmas Committee that helped decorate the town for christmas. Mrs. York enjoyed quilting, listening to music, playing cards with her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Laura Anejene Cole, and a brother, Wilbert Cole. Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, Carey Raymond York, Sr. of Andover, Ohio; two sons, Carey Raymond York, Jr. of Cranberry, Pennsylvania and Randy L. York of Mentor, Ohio; two daughters, Cheryl R. (Cliff) Poyneer of Willoughby, Ohio, and Kelly L. (Cody) Summers of Cherry Valley, Ohio; four brothers, Leonard (Pauline) Cole of West Lebanon, Indiana, Delford (Evelyn) Cole of Buchanan, Virginia, Lester (Thelma) Cole and Roy (Linda) Cole both of Roanoke, Virginia; four sisters, Iredo Alderman, and Via Cupp both of Hot Springs, Virginia, Frances (Harry) Pinney and Earlene (David) Lewis both of Andover, Ohio; three grandchildren, with one more expected in March; two great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Church of God of Cherry Valley, 2983 Sentinel Road, Dorset, Ohio, 44032. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ireland Cancer Center, 11100 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44106.
