Craig E. Wilson

Craig E. Wilson, Sr., age 86, of Gustavus township, OH, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Windsor House in Champion,OH. He was born March 23, 1929, in Altoona, PA, the son of John and Dorothy (Baker) Wilson. A resident of Gustavus since 1961, Mr. Wilson was formerly of Allison Park, PA. He was a 1947 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School in Pennsylvania; and he was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as an electrician for the Sprint Phone Company retiring in 1994. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Cherry Valley First Church of God, IBEW, the NRA, and the Jay Cee Flying Club. He liked to participate in the Paul Bunyan Festival wood chopping show and threw axes until the age of 80. He earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, feeding the birds, and he loved animals. Mr. Wilson was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife, Virginia P. (Mayer) Wilson, whom he married July 17, 1951; his children, Karen (Phil) Ryder of Newport,NC, Joyce (Gary) Morrison of Cherry Valley township,OH, Craig (Vicki) Wilson,Jr. of Gustavus township,OH, Kenny (Carol) Wilson of Gustavus township,OH, Dale (Cheryl) Wilson of Kinsman,OH, John (Jill) Wilson of Gustavus township,OH, Debbie (Brad) Masters of Gustavus township,OH, Lisa (Victor) Doran of Maple Park, IL, and Leslie (Gene) Trask of Southington,OH; 16 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren; and his sister, Sidney Bonacci of Glenshaw, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Ellen Marie Wilson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Cherry Valley First Church of God, 2983 Sentinel Rd., Dorset, OH, with Stephen Amidon officiating. Friends will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church.
