Dagmar E. Ukkonen

Dagmar E. Ukkonen, age 90, of Williamsfield,OH, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Andover, Ohio. She was born August 29, 1920, in Fairport, OH, a daughter of John and Senja (Maki) Pohto. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Ukkonen owned and operated a dairy farm for many years with her husband and family. She enjoyed decorating her home, flower gardening, baking, cooking, and canning and freezing. She had a love of animals, especially her cats, Hammer, Tillie, and Wiggy. Mrs. Ukkonen married Martti Ukkonen on March 1, 1941, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1990. She is survived by her son, Martti L. (Tracey Housel) Ukkonen of Williamsfield, OH, her daughter, Ila (Jack) Garner of Burton, OH, her two grandchildren, Jack (Karyl) Garner, Jr. of Burton,OH, and Theresa (Howard) Overton of Mantua, OH, her great grandson, Jack Garner III, and her sister, Dorothy Estok of Conneaut, OH. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery.
