Dale A. Bonar

Dale A. Bonar, age 78, of Gustavus township, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at his home. He was born January 12, 1930, in Windham, Ohio, the son of Alvin and Floy (Butler) Bonar. A long time Gustavus resident, Mr. Bonar was a 1947 graduate of Gustavus High School. He then served in the U.S. Air Force for four years in Germany. Mr. Bonar was employed by American Welding in Warren for 39 years; and was a lifetime farmer with his two sons. He was a long time member of the Gustavus Federated Church, where he served as trustee for many years; a member of the VFW in Gustavus; and the Gustavus Masonic Lodge. Mr. Bonar enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many basketball games. He is survived by his wife, Waltraud "Kitty" (Viol) Bonar, whom he married Dec. 1, 1951 in Germany; his two sons, Tim L. (Kim) Bonar of Gustavus, and Tom E. (Bev) Bonar of Gustavus; one brother, Ron (Mary) Bonar of Fort Wayne, IN; two sister-in-laws, Julie Bonar of Warren, OH, and Helen Bonar of Vernon, OH; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Clyde and Garth Bonar. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gustavus Federated Church, 8850 St. Rt. 193, Farmdale, OH 44417, with Rev. Karl Bucey officiating. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, March 16th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M, with Masonic services at 5:40 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gustavus Federated Church.
