Dale S. Draa

Dale S. Draa, age 82, of Vernon township, Ohio, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at his home. He was born August 6, 1933, in Gustavus township, OH, a son of Lawrence and Ruth (Deakins) Draa. A long time Vernon resident, Mr. Draa was a 1951 graduate of Vernon School. He served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, retiring in 1972. Following his retirement he owned and operated Draa's Berry Farm in Vernon for many years. Mr. Draa was an avid walker, having walked daily up until just two years ago. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as they were growing up; he loved gardening, woodworking, building jigsaw puzzles, reading, and traveling; and he loved his dog, Rascal. Mr. Draa is survived by his wife, Margaret Grace (Bradley) Draa, whom he married July 20, 1954, of Vernon; his daughter, Karen (Dan) Nahoun of Elk Grove, CA; his two sons, Jerry (Peggy) Draa of Piedmont, OH, and Paul (Nancy) Draa of Howland, OH; 5 Grandchildren, Ivan (Van) Rose III, Amy Draa, Kari Draa (Jason) Crawford, Adam (Christin) Draa, and Kevin Draa; 4 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandsons; and his brother, Gene (Mona) Draa of Vernon township, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Jacob Rose. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH, with Pastor Susan Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Vernon township, OH. Calling hours are on Monday, March 28th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
