Cortland, Ohio - Dale A. Johnson, age 86, died on Friday, March 6, 2015 in Cortland, Ohio. He was born May 25, 1928, in Youngsville, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six children born to Helena (Nichols) and Earl Johnson. Dale lived most of his life in and around Greene, Ohio. To young to serve during World War II, Dale stayed home to help his parents on the family farm, while his brothers went off to war. He worked for the State of Ohio Highway Department, based in Cortland, for twenty-four years and retired in 1980. Dale continued to farm in Greene at the same time he worked for the state. His long-time CB call sign was KDC 0645. On November 19, 1949 he married Dorothy Ludden in the Gustavus Federated Church. Formerly a member of the Greene Church of the Nazarene, Dale was baptized and was a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church. Dale is preceded in death by parents; his wife of nearly thirty years; his sister, Harriett Szabo; four brothers, Earl, Russell, Robert and William Johnson and his stepson, Donald Fisher. Survivors includ his stepson, Larry Fisher of Charleston, South Carolina; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsman Presbyterian Church.
