A lifelong area resident, Mr. McLaughlin was a 1944 graduate of Kinsman High School. Mr. McLaughlin served in the United States Navy during WWII. He then served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1974 as a Master Sgt. He served humanitiarian missions and helped the Roman Catholic Charities while serving in Vietnam. Mr. McLaughlin worked for Copperweld Steel for 8 years and retired in 1988. He married Elizabeth M. Conway on November 30, 1963. He was a very active member of Harry Lees Post 506 American Legion, in Kinsman where he served as past Commander and helped with the many breakfasts, and Memorial Day services. Mr. McLaughlin was a member of the Greenville VFW and the Air Force Sgt. Association. He also belonged to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church where he was instramental in the construction of the church. Mr. McLaughlin is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Raymond G. and sisters Eleanor Bolden & Isabel Radick. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 27, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 6397 State Rt. 87, Kinsman, Oh, with Father David M. Misbrener officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Greenville, PA. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Boys State Fund at PO Box 288, Kinsman, OH 44428.
