Daniel Robert Smith

Andover, Ohio - Daniel Robert Smith, age 86 of Andover, Ohio, died at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 28, 2016. He was born on February 1, 1930 in Williamsfield, Ohio, a son of Minnie V. (Miller) and Kenneth Kinne Smith. A 1948 graduate of Williamsfield High School, Mr. Smith was drafted into the United States Army serving during the Korean War. On September 30, 1966 he married S. Jane VanAllen. A lifelong dairy farmer, running the family farm in Williamsfield, Mr. Smith also worked at Lock Machine formerly of Andover. He was active in Boy Scouts while his son was a member and was a twenty-five year member of the former Williamsfield Grange. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Smith Lipps. Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty years, Jane Smith of Andover; a daughter, Wendy Sue (Matthew) Smith Mach of Middlefield, Ohio; a son, Shawn VanAllen (Eric Dowden) Smith of Canfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Justin, Jessica and Brianna; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a niece, Lisa Lipps Mason of Andover, Ohio and nephews, Mark (Nikki) Lipps of Louisville, Ohio, Corey Beahon of Tampa, Florida and sister in Law, Judith Beahon of Tampa, Florida. No public services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004.
