Williamsfield, Ohio – Darl Smith Logan, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was born on November 14, 1923, in Ashtabula, Ohio a son of Hester May (Smith) and Floyd Difford Logan. A lifelong resident of Williamsfield, Mr. Logan graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1942 and in his youth worked at the families gas station. Mr. Logan served in the United State Army during World War II in North Africa, England, France and Belgium. He and his family owned and operated a Christmas Tree farm, greenhouse, blueberry patch, fruit & vegetable stand for over thirty-five years in Williamsfield. Mr. Logan worked as a truck driver and later worked for the New York Central Railroad and finally he retired as a machinist from Thomas Strip Steel in Warren, Ohio. He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church, and attended the First Congregational Church of Wayne. Mr. Logan served on the Williamsfield School Board, was formerly a Williamsfield Trustee, volunteered at the Williamsfield Community Center Citizens Committee and was a member of the Richfield Grange. He enjoyed cookouts and family gatherings, short trips and visiting with friends, In his earlier years he enjoyed camping with his family, traveling, boating, attending auctions, gardening and working on challenging projects. Mr. Logan is preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, his first wife, Ruth J. (Tucker) Logan and his second wife, Betty (Moffatt) Logan. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Darla Carter of Andover, Ohio, Jacklynn (David) Olson of Williamsfield, Ohio and Lori (Bobby) Coleman of Wayne, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Kristie (Jerry) Mattson, Ryan Hill, Jessica (Tim) Stilson, Jon (Misty) Huffman, Logan Coleman, David (Melissa) Olson, Jr., Justin (Amanda) Coleman, Mark Coleman, and Laura (Marshall) Skillman; twenty great grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Rae) Logan of Williamsfield and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 5:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio with Pastor Bob Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 21st from 3:00pm until the time of services.
