David C. Laster

Johnston, Ohio - David C. Laster, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 after a short stay in Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio. He was born on September 5, 1945 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, a son of Helen (Bailey) and Floyd Laster. David was a 1967 graduate of Maplewood High School and earned his Bachelor and Master's degree from Kent State University. He began his thirty years of teaching for Grand Valley School District as the Grammar, English, Literature teacher along with the Speech teacher for the Junior and Senior classes. David moved on to be the head of the Drama Department and directed many comedies, musicals and drama plays for the School. He was an avid reader and was thankful to the Kinsman Free Public Library for all the help they offered over the last many years. In the summer, you could find him tending his many beautiful flower beds and would be found complaining about the "damn deer" eating his flowers and about the "gifts" they left behind. David loved to travel and was off to New York City several times a year to catch the latest Broadway hit. He also traveled to Europe and Russia many times. David is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his sister, Mary Galloway of Ardmore, Oklahoma, as well as many cousins and dear friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. A celebration of David's life (So Bring Your Tambourines) will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio,with Rev. Patricia Christ officiating. Private burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, April 15th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
