Deborah K. Kohta

Williamsfield, Ohio - Deborah Kaye Kohta, age 66, died at home surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was born on October 15, 1957, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Nancy Lee (Bishop) Slater and Kenneth Fredrick Kepner. Debbie was a 1976 Joseph Badger High School graduate and attended Youngstown State University. 

On September 15, 1984, she married David Alan Kohta. She was a realtor, working for several local real estate agents, Howard Hanna, and Price Real Estate, retiring at the end of 2023, and belonged to the National Association of Realtors. Debbie attended God's House Church of Williamsfield, Ohio, and served as an officer for FFA Alumni. You could find Debbie picking berries for a fresh pie, or out on a walk with her dog, either around the neighborhood or down by the lake. She was out for a bicycle ride around the county or on the lake in her kayak. Debbie loved painting and was a member of the National Decorative Artists Association. She enjoyed working with acrylic paints and oil paints.

Debbie is preceded in death by her brother, Keith Kepner, and her grandson, Konner Alexander Fetters. Survivors include her husband of thirty-nine years, David Kohta of Williamsfield, Ohio; her mom, Nancy Slater of North Port, Florida; her dad, Kenneth (Beverly) Kepner of Stone, Florida; her son Derick R. (Sarah) Fetters of New Lyme, Ohio; two granddaughters, Jordyn and Addyson.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Jason Hockran officiating. Burial in Williamsfield Center Cemetery will follow. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 7th from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
