Dixie Mae Bailes, age 61, of Gustavus township, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011, surrounded by her many family and friends. She was born February 7, 1950, in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Paul J. Dunbar, Sr. and Pauline H. (Clisby) Dunbar. She was a 1968 graduate of Joseph Badger High School in Kinsman. Dixie was employed by Stretch & Sew in Niles; and she owned and operated Toning Bed in Farmdale. She was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Aide. She also was a member of the Conservation Club. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, bowling, and roller skating. She enjoyed going on casino runs; collecting Longaberger baskets; and she loved her dogs, Precious and Honey. Dixie is survived by her husband, David L. Bailes, Sr., whom she married Jan. 12, 1968, of Gustavus; her two sons, David L. Bailes, Jr. of Gustavus, and Dana L. (Melita) Bailes of Gustavus; her daughter, Dione R. (Travis) Stewart of Columbus, OH; her father, Paul J. Dunbar, Sr.; her seven grandchildren, David Bailes III, Ashley Iler, Richard Bailes, Justin Dunbar, Jeffrey Bailes, Krista Bailes, and Alexa Bailes; her two step grandsons, Anthony and Justin Shadden; one sister, Sandra K. (Samuel) DeCapito of Champion, OH; two brothers, Paul J. "Sonny" (Patricia) Dunbar of Brighton, MI, and Denis D. Dunbar of Champion, OH. She is preceded in death by her mother. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery.
