Donald G. Lautanen

Donald G. Lautanen, age 70, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on October 10, 1937, in Geneva, Ohio, the son of Lauri A. and Dorothy E. (Howard) Lautanen. Donald was a long distance truck driver and also operated his own beef, pork and grain farm in New Lyme. In the 1970's, Donald managed the Ashtabula County Airport. He was 4H club leader for many years and loved to pilot his own small engine plane. Donald is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Patsy L. (Offutt) Lautanen of New Lyme; four daughters, Vicki L. (Randall) Holmes of Tucson, Arizona, Cheryl A. (William) Lucik of Andover, Ohio, Tammy J. (Harry) Switzer of New Lyme, Ohio, and Becky J. (Daniel) Hazen of Jefferson, Ohio; six sons, Donald L. Lautanen of Andover, Ohio, J. Robert Lautanen of Jefferson, Ohio, Richard A. (Criss) Lautanen of Williamsfield, Ohio, Jeffrey L. (Dianna) Lautanen, Steven L. (Brenda) Lautanen and Russell P. Lautanen all of Jefferson, Ohio; three sisters, Lauretta Venable of North Park, Florida, Kathryn (Kent) Yeager of Parma Heights, Ohio and Wendy (Michael) Gruskiewicz of New Lyme, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Lautanen of Clear Water, Florida, and Thomas (Donna) Lautanen of Ashtabula, Ohio; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in New Lyme Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 27th from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
