Kinsman, Ohio - Donald M. Martinec, Sr. age 74, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Ohio. He was born on December 2, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio to John and Elizabeth (Novak) Martinec, Sr. Mr. Martinec was a graduate of Woodrow-Wilson High School in Youngstown and the Youngstown State University where he earned his degree in accounting. He was employed in the accounting office for Republic Steel for 30 years retiring in 1981. For over 30 years he owned his own income tax preparation service. Mr. Martinec was a life member of Slovensky Katolicky Sokol; a longtime member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Kinsman and a 4th degree member of the Youngstown Chapter #274 of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Martinec held a special love for his German Shepard, Jethro. He also enjoyed watching football and working with his computer. Mr. Martinec is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Alice (Green Kiepper) whom he married on November 30, 1957. Other survivors include two daughters, Elaine Carabin of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Mary Beth and husband Daniel Carty of Bozeman, Montana; a son, Rick and wife Maggi (Brown) Martinec of North Weymouth, Massachusetts; a brother, John Martinec, Jr. of LaGrange, Georgia; a sister, Patricia Martinec of Poland, Ohio; and a grandson Andrew Craig Carabin of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Mr. Martinec was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Mary; and a son, Donald M. Martinec, Jr. A Mass of christian burial will be held on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, State Route 87, Kinsman, Ohio with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 3rd from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio.
