Donald C. Vanone

Mentor, Ohio - Donald C. Vanone, age 75, died on Friday, June 25, 2010. He was born on June 29, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Beatrice (Parker) and Victor J. Vanone. He was a 1951 graduate of Cleveland East Tech. Mr. Vanone served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 until 1954. He retired from Fed Ex in 1994 after working for over eleven years. He also was employed by SSD, National Acme, and UPS. Mr. Vanone was a member of Gunny Hall in Mentor for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and his two dogs, Decon and Matilda. Mr. Vanone is preceded in death by his parents; a son Bruce A. Vanone; a grandson Douglas T. Berlint; and two brothers, Duane and Charles Vanone. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Sarah A. (Toth) Vanone; three daughters, Kathleen A. Springer and Donna L. (Josh) Berlint both of Mentor and Julie Hugie of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh (Danyelle), Kristina, Steven, Ashley, Danielle, Christina and Rachel and two great grandchildren, Jenna and Joshua Douglas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 6:00pm at St. Bede Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, Ohio, with Father Timothy J. Plavac officiating.
