Doris Elva Hazelton, age 85, of Andover, Ohio, died Saturday, April 18,2009 at Heartland of Mentor Nursing Home. She was born in Wayne, Ohio, to William Guy and Alice (Fuller) Morse, on February 13, 1924. She graduated from Gustavus High School in 1942. Doris raised six children, cared for her home and operated a dairy farm. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and American Legion Women's Auxiliary of Andover, Ohio. Doris enjoyed doing crosswords, playing bingo and attending many of her grandchildren's school activities. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She had a great sense of humor, always quick with a smile and a kind word. Doris volunteered many hours at the Andover Country Neighbor and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 1995 and 2002. Additionally, she was chosen for the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award for Ashtabula County District XI Area on Aging in 1998. She worked at the Andover election polls for more than 40 years. Doris will be sadly missed by her loving children, two sons, William (Linda) Hazelton of Geneva, Ohio, and Richard (Kathy) Hazelton of South Euclid, Ohio, three daughters, Donna (Robert) Stewart of Chippewa Lake, Ohio, Jacqueline (Jim) Heath of Hanahan, South Carolina, and Doris Jan (Vic) Matalycki of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and one brother, Gordon (Judy) Morse of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She treasured her 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Judy Dick, sister, Dorothy, brothers, Clarence and Howard Morse. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 22nd from 6 to 9 PM and also on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
