Doris J. Mills

Doris J. Mills, age 82, of Cherry Valley township, OH, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born August 12, 1931, a daughter of Harold Boyd and Blanche (Shuler) Copeland. Mrs. Mills was formerly a resident of Cortland, Ohio, where she graduated from high school. She then became a resident of Cherry Valley when she married her husband, Arlie L. Mills, on June 18, 1949. Together they owned and operated Dorie Lee Farm, a grain and dairy farm, for many years. Mrs. Mills was a member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the U.M.W., served on various committees, and was very active in their many dinners. She was quite often affectionately known as "the swiss steak lady." She was a member of the Cherry Valley Mother's Club; she was an avid seamstress; and enjoyed cooking, canning, and baking. Mrs. Mills is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlie L. Mills on Jan. 15, 2009; her son, Ted Elvin Mills; son-in-law, Lynn Wessell; and six brothers, William, Kenneth, Robert, Leo, Donald, and James Copeland. She is survived by her two sons, Terry L. (Sharon) Mills of Missouri, and Ralph A. Mills of Jefferson,OH; her two daughters, Christine A. (Dan) Wilson of Champion, OH, and JoEllen M. Wessell of Rome, OH; one sister, Letha (Charles) Gonso of Euclid, OH; ten grandchildren, Veronica, Lisa, John, Tami, Beth, Dylan, Joshua, William, Charles, and Amanda; and seven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH, with Rev. John Germaine officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
