Dorothy Logan Malyk passed into the arms of the Lord on March 28, 2016, surrounded by the loving presence of her son, David, daughter-in-law, Nancy, and granddaughter, Kate. She was born on Jan. 1, 1927 in Burghill, OH, the daughter of the late Peter and Sarah (Ghering) Logan. She grew up in Masury, Ohio, and was a graduate of Hubbard High School. Dorothy married Paul K. Malyk on Jan 1, 1949. They raised 3 children and lived most of their life in Wayne Twp before moving to Andover, Ohio in 1999. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before Paul passed away in 2000. Dorothy had been very active in the Wayne/Williamsfield Mothers club. She was a lifelong member and Eucharistic Minister for Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, member of the Youngstown Cursillo movement and Andover Cursillo Group Reunion. Her faith was a huge part of her life. Before her illness took everything away, she made beautiful ceramics for her family, which we cherish. She also dearly loved baking and enjoyed many church trips with Paul and friends. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, David & Nancy H. Malyk of Hudson, OH, survivors include her son, Dominic P. Malyk and Michael Shaffer of Columbus, OH, and her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jeffrey Smock of Chardon, OH. Dorothy and Paul were blessed with 5 granddaughters who were their pride and joy. Lynnette Smock Homovec (Mike), Andrea Malyk Edwards (Bill), Valerie Smock Stajewski (Chuck), Katharine Malyk Marn (Chad), and Jacqueline M. Malyk. They were also blessed with 3 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Turner; and 2 brothers, Lewis (Jim), and Jack Logan. We are certain and comforted that they are all having a joyful reunion. Our thanks to the staff of Crossroads Hospice who provided loving care and tremendous support these last 3 months of her life, and especially during the last hours of her life. Thank you to all the wonderful staff of Kensington Care Center in Aurora where she has resided the past 4 years. Also to all the staff of Louise's Home in Andover who provided loving care for several years during this very long illness.
