Dorothy “Dottie” Marie Byard Dottie was welcomed by her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband, Ralph, into her eternal home on September 20, 2016. Dottie Marie Byard, 82, of Farmdale, OH, was born May 18, 1934 in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Andrew and Dorothy (Switzer) Holko. She graduated from Bristolville High School in 1952 and married her sweetheart, Ralph E. Byard on June 11, 1955. For most of her life, she was a member of the Bristolville Church of the Brethren. After moving to Farmdale in 1979, she became a member of Gustavus Federated Church, where she was a trustee and on the missions committee. Her interest in missions led Dottie to Haiti, where she worked as a short term missionary. She was involved in the Children's ministries (Sunday School and Vacation Bible School), Ladies Aid, visiting the sick and elderly, the Church Bazaar, and making breakfasts for the community. She was also the Cleaning Lady at three local churches. Dottie spent most of her time and energy giving to those around her. She was constantly delivering food and gifts to those who were in need and was always the first to volunteer when a job needed to get done. She organized the Bell Ringing for Salvation Army for many Decembers, and loved to cook for church dinners. However, her first and biggest love belonged to her family, whom she loved with all of her heart. She embraced all of her family members, no matter how they came to be a part of the family fold. She was a devoted wife to Ralph and a wonderful Mom and Grandma to her 4 children and to her many grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than taking care of those she loved. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband Ralph on June 16, 2012. She is survived by her three sons: Edward (Kathy) Byard of East Palestine, Ohio, David (Wendy) Byard of Farmdale, Ohio, and Kerry (Marian) Byard of Sherman, New York, her daughter, Melinda (Christopher) Olszak of Orwell, Ohio, 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and her brother Andrew R. (Donna) Holko, of Bristolville, Ohio. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 until 12:00 noon on Monday, September 26th at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio. Funeral procession will follow immediately after calling hours with a memorial service to be held at the West Mecca Cemetery, Hoagland Blackstub Rd., Mecca, OH.
