Douglas Gilliss, 65, of Murrieta, California, died in an L-39 jet crash in Boulder, Nevada, on May 18, 2012. He was born July 27, 1946, in Warren, Ohio, a son of Hiram and Louise (Rodau) Gilliss, who had lived in Sharon, PA, and Warren,OH. Douglas received degrees from Ohio University (BSJ) and the University of Dayton (MBS,JD). He served in the U.S. Air Force as a T-38 instructor pilot. He was an instructor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for nearly 20 years. Douglas is survived by his twin brother, David Gilliss of Hayward, California, and sister, Susie Gilliss of New York, New York. He is preceded in death by his parents. A military memorial service was held in Riverside, CA, on June 3rd. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Gustavus Cemetery, St. Rt. 193, Gustavus, OH.
