Douglas Michael Heath

Salem - Douglas Michael Heath, age 53, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2014 after a two-year battle with cancer. Doug was born March 20, 1961 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, son of Douglas L. and Patricia E. (Valesky) Heath. He first lived in Andover, Ohio, moving with his family to Salem, Ohio in 1969. He graduated from Salem High School in 1979 and attended Milligan Christian College and Kent State University. Doug started his working career at Warren Molded Plastics in Salem, and as the company changed owners, worked as a supervisor at plants in Cumming, GA, St. Matthews, S.C. and London, Ohio. He returned to Salem and last worked at Ventra Plastics. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and recently with his grandchildren. He loved working out, patio gardening, and watching sports. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Indians. He loved his Friday night bonfires with his brothers and friend, Dave “Ed” Lawton, which was a year-round tradition (yes, even in the snow with a record low temperature of -5 degrees). He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Teresa; a daughter, Chelsey (Chris) Rhoads; a son, Zackary (Brianna) Heath; a granddaughter, Celia Heath; brothers, Daniel W., Dean M. and Darrin S. (Jody); step-son, Jeff (Bambi) Linam, their children, Javen, Neveah, Kambrea and Jocelyn; his stepdaughter, Erika Linam and her daughter, Kiana; and his nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue in Salem. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St.,Andover, Ohio with Rev. Frank Hyatt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, OH 44514. Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
