Douglas L. Hughes, age 57, of Andover, OH, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. He was born January 29, 1953, in Conneaut, OH, the son of William D. and Marilyn E. (French) Hughes. Formerly of Warren, OH, Douglas spent the last few years in Andover with family and friends. He was a 1971 graduate of Niles McKinley High School; and attended Kent State University. Throughout his life Doug loved carpentry work and had become a skilled carpenter. He was superintendant of B & W Construction in Warren for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover; and he loved to golf, fish, read, and watch the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Doug is survived by his mother, Marilyn Hughes, of Andover; his brother, Donald E. (Janice) Hughes of Niles,OH; his sister, Janice Lozner, of Espyville, PA; one niece, Amy Hughes; three nephews, Donald Hughes, Jr., Dustin W. Morris, and Ryan C. Lozner; one great niece, Kyleigh Hughes; one great nephew, Dallas Hughes; and one aunt, Lois Hoover of Andover. He is preceded in death by his father. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Andover Golf Course, 5762 St. Rt. 7, Andover, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave, Cleveland,OH 44106, or to the American Heart Association, Great Rivers Affiliate Memorial Program, PO Box 163549, Columbus,OH 43216.
