Earl M. Overmoyer

Earl M. Overmoyer, age 96, of Andover, Ohio, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Saybrook Landing in Ashtabula,OH. He was born September 13, 1914, in Williamsfield, Ohio, a son of James Melvin and Abbie C. (Hall) Overmoyer. He was a 1932 graduate of Williamsfield School; and he attended Youngstown State University and Ohio State University. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Overmoyer was employed as an industrial engineer for Brainard Steel in Warren,Ohio, and for Diebold in Canton, Ohio; and retired in 1980 from True Temper in Ashtabula. He also owned and operated a farm in Williamsfield for many years. He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer for the men's club and in various other positions. He served as a Williamsfield Township trustee for twelve years and was past chairman. Mr. Overmoyer was a member of the William McKinley Masonic Lodge in Canton, Ohio, for over 65 years; and was an honorary member of the Triandria Masonic Lodge. He also served as past master of the Williamsfield Grange; was a member of The American Institute of Industrial Engineers, AARP, and the Ashtabula Farm Bureau. Mr. Overmoyer enjoyed restoring Allis Chalmers 'G' model tractors, fishing, golfing, and reading. Mr. Overmoyer is survived by his wife, Arline E. (Fenner) Overmoyer, whom he married May 23, 1968, of Andover; his four children, Daniel (Marilyn) Overmoyer of Linesville, PA, Robert (Carrie) Overmoyer of Milton, WV, James (Joyce) Overmoyer of Marion,OH, and Abbie (Ron) Naumann of Ashland, KY; his two step children, David (Sheila Wolfe) Jordan of Williamsfield,OH, and Debbie (Mark) Jordan-Vosburg of Ashtabula,OH; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Audrey (Farley) Overmoyer, who died in 1967; his brother, Leroy Overmoyer; and his sister, Gladys Carr. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service,134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 19th from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. with Masonic Services to be held at 7:45 P.M.
