Eddie R. Davis

Eddie R. Davis, age 63, of Chardon, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at UHHS Geauga Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1949, in Detroit, MI, a son of Floyd D. Davis and Frances (Hicks) Davis Douglas. Formerly of Detroit, Eddie had lived in Chardon since 1973. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as Materials Manager at Heather Hill Extended Care Campus in Chardon for 25 years. Eddie was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chardon, where he formerly served as Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the VFW in Chardon and Killeen, Texas; and was a volunteer for Rescue Village and Heel-N-Time. Eddie was an avid dog lover; enjoyed gardening and being with his family and friends. Eddie is survived by his lifetime companion and brother, Richard D. Swenders, of Chardon; his son, Roger (Cassandra) O'Neal Davis of Killeen, TX; his grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa Davis; two sisters, Linda Campbell of Jerome, MI, and Cheryl Jean (Rickey) Haggitt of Onsted, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Ernest Douglas; and two brothers, Robert Davis and Gerald Ferry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon, OH. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, OH. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 3rd from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, OH.
